The choice of a grinding tool is determined on one hand by the grinding method and on the other hand by the given parameters (general conditions). These include the grinding machine, the material to be machined, the dressing conditions, the type of coolant and its amount and feed pressure. The settings (variable parameters possible on the machine) also have a quite considerable influence on determining a grinding wheel specification (type of grain, grain size, wheel hardness, structure (porosity) and bonding).
