Designations for Superabrasives (Diamond, CBN) and Conventional Abrasives
Practically every wheel manufacturer has his own abbreviations for the grinding materials he uses (lack of standards). Letters for the abrasive have gradually become more or less uniformly accepted: A for corundums (including sintered corundum), ZA for zirconia alumina, C for silicon carbide, B for CBN (cubic boron nitride) and D for diamond. However, the numbers which usually precede these deviate significantly from one another. This often makes comparisons or evaluations difficult for the user.
These are the designations for individual types of grain and for the most frequently used combinations which are usually used at Meister Abrasives AG (subject to amendment at any time): |
