Regular Corundum

Regular corundum has the distinctive feature of a particularly high toughness, and has the lowest tendency to chip of all corundums (chips block-like). The following properties result:

  • long tool life
  • very high dimensional, form and surface qualities can be achieved
  • inferior cool-cutting abilities

Regular corundum is mainly used for roughing, fettling and deburring of non-hardened and of heat-treated steels, wrought iron, ingot and soft iron, cast steel, grey cast iron and malleable cast iron by manual and machine grinding. It is also used in grain combinations in modern grinding wheels.
