Pure Corundum

Of all the grain types, pure corundum has the highest tendency to chip. White aluminium oxide is particularly suitable for hardened steels and is therefore used above all in precision grinding. By adding varying percentages of titanium oxide or chromium oxide, the breaking characteristics of pure corundum are influenced, i.e. it becomes tougher. Practically all materials can be worked with white, pink and ruby aluminium oxide.
