Hollow Micro-Beed Corundum
Hollow micro-beed corundum has been known for only a short time. It consists of small hollow corundum spheres in the range from 0.0015 mm to about 0.100 mm in diameter. In contrast to regular larger hollow beed corundum, these miniature balls are mixed to the bond to influence its properties. It has already been found in practice that a "cool-cutting" can thereby be realised with a low bond content, but nevertheless very resistant bond bridges. Grinding wheels constructed in this way - always of course with a vitrified bond - cut very easily and transport the coolant well into the contact zone if this is fed correctly. In the end, it is precisely these hollow micro-spheres which have broken open in the working zone of the wheel which are responsible for this. |
